Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 18
Composed between 1900 and 1901, this masterpiece premiered on November 9, 1901, in Moscow, with Rachmaninoff as the pianist. The performance was a resounding success, marking a triumphant return to the concert stage and solidifying Rachmaninoff’s status as a leading composer of his time. Since then, the concerto has become one of the most popular works in the piano repertoire,
celebrated for its emotional depth and technical brilliance.
